Our RootXpose platform can precisely reveal the effect of agricultural chemicals on plant root development. RootXpose can analyze agricultural chemicals under a variety of concentrations and environmental stresses. The system accurately measures 20 different root traits, including root length, width, number, branching angles and volume.
RootXpose is noninvasive, unlike other root phenotyping systems. This gives us the ability to measure root traits over the course of time, enabling analysis of the effect of chemicals on growth rate and development.GrassRoots provides the RootXpose service to several industry partners. In a project for Valent BioSciences, we measured the effect Valent’s new plant growth regulator on root structure. The RootXpose platform revealed that Valent’s growth regulator produced a substantial increase in root depth in several rice varieties.RootXpose has been used to image a wide variety of plants - corn, wheat, rice, sorghum, switchgrass, potato, tomato, green millet and brachypodium. The system can accommodate numerous other plant types.
